We hosted baby Dean's 1st Birthday party in church on Sunday.
Vicar Malcolm said: "A baby's first birthday is certainly something to celebrate and we couldn't let Dean's birthday pass without throwing a party. It was a lovely occasion and we were delighted to celebrate with Dean and his family and friends. Many happy returns, may God bless you Dean."
On 17 June we celebrated the Baptism of Freddie and Nial with their family and friends during our morning service.
In baptism God invites the parents and child to a life long journey with Him, exploring the way of Jesus, growing in faith, and serving others.
Vicar Malcolm said: "This baptism was a very special occasion when we welcomed Freddie and Nial into God’s family. We are all God’s children and Jesus said we should become like little children - full of innocence and unconditional love, they trust their parents to completely take care of them. We should come to Jesus in the same way, fully trusting that he loves and cares for us. As we celebrated with the family we prayed that the grace and blessings the boys receive from God guide them both throughout their
lives."
Today marks the start of our Stewardship Review called Loving, Living, Giving.
Over the next few weeks during Sunday worship we will have a special series of services. This will be your opportunity to review your personal contribution that keeps our church fulfilling God’s mission in our community.
Our vision is to reach out to the local community, providing opportunities for people of all ages to encounter the transforming love of God and join us on our journey of faith. We want to connect with the people of Cottingley, to grow and to see more people become part of the life of the church. All our activities require funding, and most of the money comes directly from the congregation as giving.
Church members and friends of St Michael's will be given an information pack to take home and read. We are asking people to pray and consider your choices as to giving. Please return the response form in your pack and help ensure church events continue to reach out to people in Cottingley.
