Messy Church: A Golden Ticket for All

Wow, what a great turnout at Messy Church this month! Lots of people came along to join in the fun at our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed event on 19 June 2015.

Visitors to the Messy Sweet Factory were greeted by Vicar Gary dressed as Willy Wonka in top hat and tails. Once through the factory gates the children made their own golden ticket and took part in an Oompa Loompa training session!

We all had great fun in our Inventing Room making Wonka’s Peppermint Swirls, Armpit Fudge and Lickable Pictures. A big lollipop picture was also created using paint made from skittles sweets. Babies, toddlers, school children, parents and grandparents all expressed their creativity by making lots and lots of mess,

Those who made it to the end of the tour sat down together for tea and had a delicious surprise when they sampled the Chocolate Waterfall with fresh strawberries, pineapple and mango. All the mess (and there was lots of it!) was expertly cleared up by volunteers.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory helped us to explore issues of grace and love, and discover how there is a ‘golden ticket’ for everyone who wants to live in God’s kingdom. Messy Church aims to make the church more accessible and family-friendly with a well-planned blend of Bible stories, craft, music and games.

Don’t miss our next Messy Church on Friday 17 July 2015 at 3.30 pm where we will be looking at how Shaun the Sheep got lost and found.

Please note: All children must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a responsible adult during Messy Church.

This is a free event, however donations towards the crafts and the meal are always very welcome.
